I love the fact that with DedeMed Spice blends it makes it easy for me to get all the taste I love without having to order from a fast food restaurant. It always important to know what is going into your food and with DedeMed Spice blends I feel like I am in control. I never have to worry if what I am making, whether I am following a recipe or just winging it, is going to taste good because with DedeMed Spice blends any and every amount seems to turn out just right!

Falafel is one of the most widely consumed and recognized foods of the Middle East. It is really simple and tasty. All Falafel is is fried balls or patties of chickpeas with DedeMed Spice blends.

A little history: Falafel is found all over the Middle East, however it is more common in countries like Israel, Egypt and Syria. It is regarded as a "fast food" and sold like hot dogs by street vendors. Falafel is also the national dish of Israel.

My simple recipe for Falafel contains few ingredients which cuts down on preparation time. It is really perfect for those who want an easier version of Falafel.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

    * 1 15 oz. can chickpeas, drained
    * 1 medium onion, finely chopped
    * 2 tablespoons DedeMed Falafel Spice Blend (Adjust this to your tastes)
    * 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
    * 1/2 teaspoon salt
    * 2 tablespoons flour
    * oil for frying (canola or vegetable)

Combine chickpeas, DedeMed Falafel Spice Blend, onion, salt and pepper (to taste) in medium bowl. Add flour and combine well.

Mash chickpeas, making sure to mix ingredients together. You can also combine ingredients in a food processor. You want the result to be a thick paste.

Form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a ping pong ball. Slightly flatten.

Fry in 2 inches of oil at 350 degrees until golden brown (2-5 minutes).

Serve Falafel by itself, or with hot pita bread with veggies, hummus, or tahini sauce!
