Volunteer and get a free day at Disney!

January 1, 2010

One million people who perform volunteer service for a participating organization in 2010 will receive a free, one-day admission ticket to a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park.

On January 1, Disney Parks officially launched "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day," a first-of-its-kind initiative in conjunction with HandsOn Network, the nation's largest volunteer network.

One million people who perform volunteer service for a participating organization in 2010 will receive a free, one-day admission ticket to a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park.

Other Points:

  • The intent of the Give A Day. Get A Disney Day program is to inspire and celebrate volunteerism.
  • The program is helping Tampa area hospitals meet critical health care needs through Florida Blood Services, the area's primary nonprofit blood bank.  January is a time when blood supplies are lowest and Florida Blood Services volunteers are helping to organize and support blood drives throughout the month of January to help support dozens of Tampa area hospitals.
  • While donating blood is not the typical volunteer activity that is eligible under the Give A Day. Get A Disney Day program, Florida Blood Services organized a multi-city drive that will use hundreds of volunteers to help supply local blood reserves- while also raising awareness about how people can get involved and volunteer with the organization on an ongoing basis.
  • There are many volunteer opportunities available, including helping to drive the mobile vans, staffing donor stations and supporting the intake and processing; and conducting outreach to engage people throughout many area neighborhoods.
  • The Give A Day. Get A Disney Day program has provided a platform for us to share the many ways people can help support the needs of our area hospital.
